Melt away stress, fatigue and restore vitality and balance with the ancient cleansing program called Panchakarma

Panchakarma is recommended seasonally for everyone by the classical texts of Ayurveda – the original authority on longevity, prevention and enhancing happiness and well-being. Panchakarma has been extolled since ancient times as a powerful preventative and restorative procedure for cleansing and balancing the body and mind. Regular Panchakarma removes the build-up of metabolic waste products end environmental toxins, reversing the biochemical imprint of stress, and restoring smooth and balanced functioning to the mind and body.  Prevention is better than cure!

Panchakarma is the best thing we can do to eliminate the build-up toxins and impurities called “ama”, a sticky plaque-like substance that accumulates in the tissues and clogs the micro-channels of the body. Ama is produced as a result of stress, wear and tear and improper diet or daily routine. Ayurveda views the build-up of ama as the precursor to ill health. Panchakarma helps to dissolve these accumulated metabolic waste products and environmental toxins in the body that contribute to many common chronic conditions including those that are most prevalent in the spring season such as allergies, sinus problems, congestion, weight gain, depression, colds, etc.

The treatments in Panchakarma are selected based on the individual needs of the person.  Below is a summary of some of the treatments offered at the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center at Lancaster.

A soothing four-hands, full body application of specially prepared oils. Abhyanga is performed in synchrony by a team of two specially trained technicians using a special sequence of strokes which promote the absorption of warm herbalized oil deep into the skin and tissues. This procedure loosens impurities, revitalizes the skin, and promotes balance in the whole physiology.
